1. The hardest fun ever.
Think. Create. Have fun. FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a unique varsity sport of the mind designed to help high-school-aged young people discover how interesting and rewarding the life of engineers and researchers can be.
2. Learn from the best.
Students get to work with professional engineers from local companies. Each FRC team is required to have an engineer to help guide them to build a robot. Students learn how real engineers tackle real world problems. FIRST is a one in a lifetime chance to learn from the best.
3. There's a job for everyone.
You don't have to be a "techie" person to join a team. There's a job for everyone on a FIRST team. Roles on a team range from fabrication and programming to public speaking and writing. Aside from building a robot, teams also need people interested in website design, graphics, 3D animation, documentation, and public relations.
4. Get involved with your community.
FIRST is a great way to spread the word of innovation, science, and technology throughout the community.
5. Scholarships for higher education.
FIRST scholarships enable students to pursue majors and careers in engineering, computer science, electronics, animation, digital design, aeronautics, and many other technological fields. Over 60 colleges and universities offer millions of dollars worth of scholarships to hundreds of students.
